Clinical Negligence Reports and Expert Witness Services
About Me
I am a consultant anaesthetist at Ipswich Hospital, part of East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT). Appointed in 1998, I have nearly a quarter of a century of frontline clinical experience

My clinical practice is based around providing the full range of DGH anaesthetic services, predominately for emergency, upper GI and spinal surgery. In the last full year prior to the Pandemic, I managed or oversaw anaesthesia for nearly 800 elective and emergency procedures

I am the Clinical Lead for Preoperative Assessment at my Trust and my unit sees and optimises around 6000 elective cases per year

In addition I am Vice Chair (and formally Chair) of the Local Negotiating Committee. This role involves negotiating all aspects of the consultant contract with the Trust and assisting colleagues with various contractual and HR disputes

Aside from my professional medical qualifications I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Medicine from the University of Northumbria. This means I have extensive experience in reading and analysing legal reports and a comprehensive understanding of the underlying legal principles

I am available to provide medico-legal reports on all aspects of adult general and subarachnoid or epidural regional anaesthesia, preoperative assessment and optimisation and anaesthetic consent. Desktop reports are provided within 28 days of receipt of medical records and instruction. Urgent reports can be accommodated upon request
